Dr J Radhakrishnan to inaugurate Pharmac South 2017 in Chennai on July 7.

Pharmac South 2017, the third edition of the south Indian trade show will be held from July 7 to 8 at Chennai Trade Centre.The event will be inaugurated by Dr J Radhakrishnan, Principal Secretary, department of health, government of Tamil Nadu.

The event is organized by the Tamil Nadu branch of the Indian Drugs Manufacturers Association (IDMA). The immediate past president of the IDMA, SV Veeramani, M Rajaratinam, chairman of Pharmac South, J Jayaseelan, secretary of Tamil Nadu IDMA, G. Uday Bhaskar, director general of pharmaceutical export promotion council of India (Pharmexcil), M. Sivabalan, state drugs control director (in-charge), Dr S Manivannan, deputy drugs controller, CDSCO, Chennai, T Satheesh, S Sreedharan, R.Sabhapathy and SPVV. Sivanandan, will speak on the occasion.

The theme of this year’s event is, “Challenges and opportunities for start-ups and growing companies”.Six panel discussions will also be held in the two-day programme.. This year the show will exhibit wares and product profiles of 90 companies of different capacities.

“We are excited to hold the third edition of the event this year as we received very encouraging responses in the previous editions. Due to IPC, we could not hold the event in 2016. The first edition in 2014 gathered together more than 3000 visitors ranging from small scale to big players from across the country. More than 250 brand managers of big pharmaceutical companies visited the event. The second year saw better responses and all the participants could achieve business potentials more than expected. The visitors included manufacturers of pharmaceuticals, neutraceuticals, dietary supplements, ayurvedic and herbal products, and functional foods. This year, we look forward to meeting visitors from big pharma players including MNCs. Buyer-seller meeting will be arranged for negotiating new contracts”, said J Jayaseelan, secretary of TN IDMA.

M Rajaratinam, chairman of Pharmac South, said the Pharmac South 2017 is aimed to showcase south Indian pharmaceutical industry’s capabilities as a fast growing manufacturing hub for contract manufacturing for all kinds of pharmaceutical products, neutraceuticals, veterinary drugs, herbal products and medicines of the Indian systems. This year, the event is expected to attract about 4000 visitors from all the states in India and from neighboring countries.

We are targeting exhibitors from Telengana, Andhra Pradesh, Orissa, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Karnataka and Kerala. Eighty five percent of the total stall space has been booked already. Participation of companies from Telengana and Karnataka is very much encouraging this year. The event will provide the exhibitors a single window system to expand their business activities and exports, Rajaratinam added.

This year, as part of the expo, six industry-specific and sales-oriented seminars and two academic symposia will be conducted in the two days programme.
