Healthcare shift into Industry 4.0 ups hiring for tech roles like pharmacy analysts, health informaticists, etc

Indian healthcare is working towards Industry 4.0 implementation which is accelerated by Covid-19 pandemic. There is a steady increase in tech roles within individual functional domains of the sectors covering hospitals, pharma, biotech, medical devices and remotely managed care. Hiring database administrator, data analyst, ETL developer, pharmacy analyst data scientist, health informaticist and clinical code developer is more of a norm.

There is a huge fusion of technology and the game plan of healthcare industry has created the need for increased data driven support to analyze massive volumes of patient information. This has created exceptional demand that is seen to increase by 10-15 percent. Even the telemedicine market is expected to grow at 30-38 percent in India by 2025. India now needs dedicated telemedicine technologists who are engaged in remote patient care, staff patient liaising which are roles driven by telecommunication and IoT, said Munira Loliwala, AVP, Engineering Staffing & RPO Solutions, TeamLease Digital.

The demand for tech fusion roles is continuous as there is a constant need for data analytics and speech-language pathologists. These posts call for STEM category of education that combines science, technology, engineering and math that definitely demands higher remuneration., she added
Going forward, hiring for tech fusion roles will be highest in Bengaluru followed by Mumbai and Delhi. However, there is definitely a demand supply gap for niche roles ranging from 10 to 47 per cent. The reason for this is that that the entire pattern of the segment is an eclectic mix of data resurgent technology in areas of radiology, supply chain management, data engineering, clinical research and regulatory, Loliwala told Pharmabiz.

Healthcare is expected to rise up to 25% of growth in contract staffing hiring by 2026 as all top specialized roles in healthcare witnessed superlative growth rates during the FY.  In the evolution of Industry 4.0, cyber-physical systems form a keystone concept and it uses modern control systems with embedded software systems via IoT, indicated Teamlease in its latest Professional Staffing – Digital Employment Trends Report FY 2021-22 for healthcare, engineering and telecom.

For the tech fusion roles, Robotics Scientist, IoT trainer, cloud automation, engineer machine learning, engineer information, risk auditor, growth manager software engineering, head director of engineering, cryptologist and security analyst are roles that have significant levels of penetration. For instance, cyber security, has a 48% penetration and cloud system administration has a 35% penetration. These posts play a key role in the Industry 4.0 evolution.

Further, attrition in the healthcare sectors during FY 2021-22 nurse informatics specialist stood at 15.31%, clinical research scientist was 13.69% and GM-production was 11.57%. Further in healthcare services and facilities it is 16.79%, medical services and managed care is 15.03%, medical devices and hospital supplies is 13.95%, pharma & biotechnology is 13.07%.

The career prospects are promising for home health aides, care nurse practitioner, medical consultants, occupational therapists telemedicine technologists clinical coding data analytics patient monitoring & care speech-language pathologists.
