The ongoing World Ayurveda Conference and Trade Show (Arogya Expo 2022) in Goa is attracting a large number of visitors from foreign countries and the organizers of the event hope that this expo will help increase the export opportunities of Ayurveda products from India to foreign markets tremendously.

Dr. Hardik Sony, who represents the Gujarat Ayurveda Aushadh Manufacturers Association (GAAMA) in the organizing committee, said the number of visitors to the stalls on the first day, December 8, crossed 10,000 and is expected to pass the one lakh mark within the next three days. The expo will end on Tuesday evening.

“On the very first day of the event, the expo witnessed an amazing start. More than ten thousand foreigners visited our stall, Vasu Healthcare Pvt Ltd, and today within one hour of the opening the number of foreign visits has crossed 5,000. We are expecting more foreigners than Indian customers this year. Since Goa is one of the most favorite destinations of foreign tourists, they flock to the Konkan coastal region in the month of December. This is the best time to attract them to our health resorts and spas for treatments and for residential programs to address specific health concerns.  A lot of delegates are also from abroad,” he said.

Talking to Pharmabiz from Panaji, Dr. Sony said this is the 9th Edition of the World Ayurveda Conference and Expo organized by the Union Ministry of Ayush in association with Ayurveda drug manufacturers. This serves as a perfect opportunity for networking and discovering markets for business from India and abroad. Besides, the trade show helps in building relationships with new buyers, sellers and other stakeholders from across the country. Suppliers of raw materials and extracts are also becoming part of the exhibition and conference.

Sharing information about the trade fair, Dr. Sony said as part of the conference a buyer-seller meet has been set up at the site which will continue upto Tuesday. Representatives from more than 100 countries are attending the meet which will potentiate the export businesses from India to the middle-east and to the Asian countries. Distributors and marketers of Ayurveda and other Indian traditional medicines from almost all parts of the world are visiting the stalls and interacting with the sellers. Since the world Ayurveda conference is organized after a lull of three years and is held in a most attractive destination, this time the visitors are mostly from foreign countries. He said the show highlights the strength of Indian Ayurveda and other traditional medicines at the global level.

The event was inaugurated by the chief minister of Goa, Dr. Pramod Sawant, on December 8. Union Minister of state Sripad Yesso Naik, health minister of Goa, Vishwajith Rane, culture minister Govind Gaude and the managing director of Kottakkal Aryavaidyasala Dr. V Madhavan Kutty Warrier who is the organizing committee chairman of the Arogya.
