Govt scheme to rejuvenate health sector in Joypurhat

The government of Bangladesh has stepped up efforts to rejuvenate the health sector in Joypurhat district during the current fiscal. According to official sources, the programme includesconstruction, renovation, re-modelling, upgradation works of 29 health establishments, which are progressing fast at a cost of Taka 7,81,27,000.
More than eight lakh people of all five upazilas in the district will be benefited when the projects are completed and they will get modern healthcare services, the sources said.
Alhaj Abdul Alim, MP, and Alhaj AUM Khalilur Rahman, MP, are closely monitoring the ongoing works, sources said. A number of projects have been completed already and the rest are progressing fast. The projects include constructions and upgradation of 23 union parishad levels Family Welfare Centres (FWC), five Upazila Health Complexes (UHCS) and one nursing institute in the district.
Construction works of Balighata FWC at a cost of Taka 42,81,000 and renovation of Kalai UHC at a cost of Taka 5 lakh have already been completed. Upgradation works of 19 Family Welfare Centres, renovation of Joypurhat Nursing Institute, re-modelling of Khetlal UHC and Panchbibi UHC and upgradation of Akkelpur UHC (from 31 bed to 50 bed) at a cost of Taka 7,33,46,000 are now progressing fast and is expected to be completed by next June.?
