Axio Biosolutions has set up a global helpline number. The move follows after the 21-day lockdown across India to contain the COVID-19 pandemic which, according to the company, has left countless patients in a limbo.
Anyone who needs medical assistance at home can call the helpline and fix up an appointment for a video call with trained professionals and nurses.
The video call offers easy-to-follow, step-by-step guidance on how to manage and dress wounds at home. Axio will be putting up additional patient-friendly information on their social media portals as well.
People with chronic wounds, such as diabetic foot ulcers (India has over 5 lakh patients), venous leg ulcers, bed sores, burns and other complex wounds, are struggling to get access to basic medical care.
“Even before the lockdown was announced in India, we had started getting customer queries from across the globe on how to treat wounds in a lockdown situation,” said Leo Mavely, CEO, Axio Biosolutions.
“It is vital for people with chronic wounds, such as diabetic foot ulcers, to get the dressing done on a regular basis. Or else, it can lead to other health complications and in some cases, even prove to be fatal. The need of the hour is to adopt self-care,” he added.
The Bengaluru-based Axio is working on rolling out Do it Yourself (DIY) home healthcare kits, as soon as the situation permits. The company stated that one could connect with Wound Care Experts: +91 72279 34333 (H/P & WhatsApp) |care@axiobio.com.
