Dr Jayachandra Babu Ramapuram has been honoured with the prestigious AAPS Fellow Award at the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS) annual meeting held in Salt Lake City, Utah. This esteemed award recognizes Dr Rampuram’s exceptional contributions to pharmaceutical sciences and his dedication to advancing research and innovation in the field. AAPS is dedicated to advancing pharmaceutical sciences through education, research, and professional development. The AAPS Fellow Award recognizes individuals who have made substantial contributions to the field and exemplify the highest standards of excellence. The AAPS Fellow Award is conferred upon individuals who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, scholarship, and service within the pharmaceutical sciences community. Dr Ramapuram, renowned for his pioneering work in drug formulation and delivery, has significantly contributed to enhancing the safety and efficacy of pharmaceutical products. Dr Ramapuram expressed deep gratitude for the recognition. “I am truly honoured to receive the AAPS Fellow Award. This achievement reflects the hard work and dedication of my students, scholars and colleagues and their collaborative team spirit. I am highly thankful to my mentors and nominators for this award,” he stated. Dr Ramapuram completed his bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from Madras University, and master’s and Ph.D. from IIT, Varanasi. After working with GlaxoSmithKline for three years, he moved to the US. He first worked with Florida A&M University and then for the last 19 years, he is with Auburn University Harrison College of Pharmacy. He has made contributions to pharmaceutical technologies and advanced scientific knowledge in overcoming drug delivery barriers across the skin, ocular, nasal, oral and parenteral routes. For this, he has utilized various innovative approaches such as cyclodextrin complexation, nanoparticulate systems and nano vesicular systems. The AAPS annual meeting serves as a premier platform for leaders in pharmaceutical sciences to exchange knowledge, network, and explore the latest advancements. Dr Ramapuram joins an esteemed group of past recipients who have made significant contributions to the industry and scientific community.
