The annual general body meeting of the Tamil Nadu Pharmaceutical Traders Association (TNPTA) has elected Chola Mahendran, managing director of Chola Agencies at Kumbhakonam in Thanjavur district, president of the association. MS Saravanan, proprietor of Udaya Medical Shop in Madurai is the general secretary, and AS Dandapani, Annamalai Medicals in Villupuram is the treasurer. Guna Thyagarajan from Chennai will act as administrative secretary and Mohan Kumar will work as administrative secretary. In the meeting Saravanan presented the annual report. The meeting was held at Madurai Chamber of Commerce and Industry building in Madurai last Sunday under the presidentship of T Natarajan, founder president of the association. Over 300 traders from across Tamil Nadu attended the meeting. TN PTA is a body of pharmaceutical traders who left the state chemists and druggists association due to organisational feud two years ago. Mannargudi Ramachandran, advisor of TNPTA was previously the president of the TNCDA. He gave a detailed proposal for the welfare of the members in the meeting. Talking to Pharmabiz, Chola Mahendran said, TNPTA has now 14 district committees, and in another two months all the remaining district committees will be formed. The state body now has an advisory body of 15 members and an executive body of 60 members. He said the members of TNPTA have severed all ties with the TNCDA. In Madurai, Vignesh Ganesan is the president of the district committee, MS Saravanan will temporarily hold the post of secretary and S Chembakarajan is the treasurer.
In January, TNPTA will organise one one-day workshop for pharma traders in Chennai. Perambalur Saravanan proposed a vote of thanks in the meeting.
