In a fitting tribute to his illustrious career, Professor Bhupinder Singh Bhoop was conferred with the prestigious "Professor S S Agrawal Memorial Lifetime Achievement Award" during the National Pharma Summit 2025 (NPS-2025). The summit, organized by Pharma Lok, took place in New Delhi last week. Prof. Bhoop was recognized for his exemplary contributions to the field of pharmaceutical sciences and the profession, solidifying his standing as a global pioneer in the discipline. The coveted award was officially bestowed upon Prof Bhoop during the inaugural programme of the 63rd Pharma Conclave. Key dignitaries from the pharmaceutical sector presented the honor, including Dr Atul Nasa (Pro-VC SGT University), Prof Roop K Khar, Dr Anil Sharma (VP, Aimil Lab), Prof D D Santani, Prof Saranjit Singh, Prof Satish Sharma, and Amit Jha, the national coordinator of Pharma Lok. Following the ceremony, Prof Bhoop delivered a key invited talk on the crucial topic, “Safeguarding Ethics during Publishing Research Findings,” a subject of increasing importance in the global scientific community. Professor Bhoop is renowned globally for his expertise in cutting-edge research areas such as Pharma Quality by Design (QbD), nanomedicine, computational pharmaceutics, and pharmacokinetic modelling. His prolific output includes an impressive record of 450 publications, alongside 16 books. His dedication to mentorship has guided over 110 researchers, including 34 PhDs and 10 post-doctorates. Further, his work has attracted significant funding, with over Rs. 7.30 crores in research grants from governmental and corporate sectors. The impact of his research extends beyond academia into industry. Prof Bhoop has successfully filed 10 patents and, crucially, transferred three technologies, specifically nanostructured drug delivery products, to the pharma industry, demonstrating the commercial viability and practical application of his scientific innovations. As a widely travelled scientist, he has delivered over 390 invited talks and has trained more than a thousand industrial scientists on critical topics like Pharma QbD, biowaivers, and nanomedicine through numerous onsite industrial training seminars and workshops. The quantum and quality of his published work have consistently placed him among the Top 2% of Scientists of the World (Stanford University, USA) from 2019 to 2025. Throughout his distinguished career at Panjab University (PU), Professor Bhoop has held several influential administrative positions, including Chairman of the University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS), Dean - Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Dean Alumni Relations. He was also instrumental as the Founder-Coordinator of the National UGC Centre for Excellence in Nano Biomedical Applications and the Coordinator of the national UGC Centre of Advanced Studies in Pharmaceutical Sciences. His expertise has been utilized on the Expert Panels of numerous high-profile organizations, including UGC, NBA, NAAC, AICTE, PCI, DST-SERB, DBT, UPSC, PPSC, UPPSC, and the Commonwealth Secretariat, underscoring his influence on national policy and education. This Lifetime Achievement Award serves as a heartfelt tribute to the late Professor S S Agrawal, a visionary leader, distinguished pharmacologist, and academician whose efforts were crucial to the creation of the Delhi Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research University (DPSRU).
