 ACG co-founder and vice chairman Jasjit Singh, who played a central role in building the company from a small capsule manufacturing operation in Mumbai into a global pharmaceutical manufacturing solutions group, passed away on August 27, 2026, at the age of 83.
The pharmaceutical industry has mourned the passing of Singh, remembering him as an engineer, entrepreneur, industrialist and pioneer who contributed to the development of India’s pharmaceutical manufacturing ecosystem over more than six decades.
Singh founded ACG in 1961 along with his elder brother, Ajit Singh. The company began with a small capsule manufacturing operation in Kandivali, Mumbai, and subsequently expanded its presence to serve pharmaceutical and nutraceutical manufacturers in markets across the world. His association with the company spanned more than six decades, during which he remained closely involved in its growth, technological development and culture of innovation.
For ACG, Singh’s passing marks the loss of one of the individuals who was present at the beginning of the company’s journey and remained associated with its evolution over more than 60 years. For the pharmaceutical industry, his life represents the contribution of an entrepreneur who helped develop manufacturing capabilities and supported the transition of Indian pharmaceutical ancillary manufacturing from a small domestic activity to a globally connected industry.
