The Karnataka Antibiotics and Pharmaceuticals Limited (KAPL) will be the only manufacturer and supplier of Oxytocin injection, for domestic use from September 1, 2018.
KAPL managing director, Nirja Saraf told Pharmabiz that the government has further extended the deadline, vide its gazette notification number G.S.R 602[E] dated 29.06.2018 restricting manufacturing of Oxytocin injection to all other manufacturers from 31st August, 2018. “Therefore from September 1, KAPL will be the sole manufacturer and supplier of inj. Oxytocin.
“We are geared up with marketing channels having prescribed required facilities to ensure smooth and timely supply as and when and wherever required in the country to all registered hospitals nursing homes and clinics in both public and private sector”, KAPL managing director told Pharmabiz in an email.
So far as marketing is concerned it is being informed to all concerned from Ministry as well at the company level, that Oxytocin injection is available with KAPL, as has been mandated by Government of India. “Our production facility is fully geared up to meet the entire requirement/demand of inj. Oxytocin in the country. We are also in the process informing and creating awareness regarding availability of Oxytocin injection, through forums like Indian Medical Association [IMA], Federation of Gynaecology Association, informing all state governments and various institutions among others, she added.
The company is also in the process of creating helplines and support of call centres to make the drug available and to ensure that the drug reaches to each and every nook and corner of the country.
Further we have also informed all the existing distribution channels regarding availability of Oxytocin at KAPL. Moreover, distribution centres of KAPL, are present in all states and Union Territories, said KAPL chief Saraf.
