Karnataka government has appointed Amaresh Tumbagi as the State drugs controller in-charge for administration and finance activities. For the last five months, he was holding the post of Additional drugs controller for the state of Karnataka.
Tumbagi is a post graduate in pharmaceutical regulatory affairs from JSS College of Pharmacy and is currently pursuing his PhD. He also holds a PG diploma in Quality Assurance from JSS University. He completed B Pharma from the HK Society College of Pharmacy in Kalaburagi, the erstwhile Gulbarga district in north Karnataka.
Tumbagi joined the Karnataka drugs control department in 1993 as a drugs inspector. In 2001, he went on to be promoted as assistant drugs controller. In 2014, he became the deputy drugs controller and it was on April 25,2018, he became the additional drugs controller. On September 29, 2018, the Karnataka government appointed him as the Karnataka drugs controller in-charge for administration and finance activities.
