South India’s premier pharma & nutraceutical expo, Pharmac South 2023, will begin today at 10 am at the Chennai Trade Centre in the presence of national leaders of the Indian Drug Manufacturers’ Association (IDMA), drug regulatory officers of the Central and state governments and pharma entrepreneurs of South India. The two-day event will be inaugurated by the secretary of the department of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) to the government of Tamil Nadu, Dr V Arun Roy.
Captains of formulation companies, contract manufacturers, members of MSME units, nutraceutical companies and startup units will be present in the pavilion to display their innovative products.
The inaugural session will start with the welcome address by J Jayaseelan, chairman of the Tamil Nadu IDMA state board, followed by it the chairman of the Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council (Pharmexcil), Dr. SV Veeramani will present an overview of the Indian pharmaceutical industry.
The secretary general of the IDMA, Daara B Patel from Mumbai, MN Sreedharan, controlling authority of the Tamil Nadu drug control administration, E Ananthakrishnan, drug controller of Pondicherry and Dr. Montu M Patel, president of the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) will address the pharma entrepreneurs and other stakeholders of the industry.
P R Perumal, managing director and CEO of the ITCOT, the project management agency under the industry department to provide technical services to the Tindivanam pharma cluster project of the government will present a report about the park project. TN IDMA secretary S Sivanandan will extend the vote of thanks.
After the interval at noon, at 2 pm the motivational speaker and the international corporate guru, Swami Sukhabodhananda from Bengaluru will deliver on ‘Role of Leadership for Excellence and Profitable Growth’. At 4 pm Ramdev Agarval, director of Lindstrom Services India Pvt Ltd, will talk on ‘Helping Pharma with compliant and sustainable workwear service’. Followed by it, there will be speeches by ICICI Bank senior officers, L. Manivannan, M Vasanthi and S John.
The second day programme will commence at 10 am on Saturday with a speech by Dr. KM Srinivasan, deputy director of the CDSCO Chennai office. At 11.30 am, the drug controller general of India (DCGI) Dr. Rajeev Singh Raghuvanshi will speak on the subject, ‘Pharmaceutical Quality – what are we missing’. The session will be moderated by Dr. SV Veeramani, chairman of the Pharmexcil.
At 12 pm, a session will be conducted on ‘Updates on FSSAI for Manufacturing and Marketing of Neutraceuticals. Dr. KA Arulkumar, joint director of FSSAI, TN & AP and Dr. Vivek, assistant director of FSSAI for south India, will speak. The vice-chairman of the TN IDMA, T. Sathish will preside over the meeting.
At 2.30 pm, a session on ‘Intellectual Property Protection for Pharmaceutical companies’ will be held. MS Bharat, founder of Kria Law, will address the audience.
At 3 pm PM, B Krishanamoorthy, special secretary and project director of the TIDCO, will talk on ‘Revolutionizing Pharma – Unlocking the Power of Next Generation Software Solutions for Start-ups and MSMEs’. Dr. Anand Krishnamoorthy, industry consultant and senior manager at Dassault Systems India Ltd, will share his experiences at the meeting. The president of the TN PMA, MD Varadarajan, will preside over the meeting. At 4 pm valedictory function will be held.
