The Indian Pharmaceutical Congress (IPC) organisers are buoyant that its 74th edition this year will attract over 12,000 delegates from across the country, including academicians, researchers, industry leaders, regulatory officials, and students. They note that this year’s theme ‘AI & Technology in Pharma: Educate, Innovate, Empower,’ mirrors the growing significance of artificial intelligence and digital technologies in reshaping pharmaceutical research, healthcare delivery, and education. Also, IPC is returning to Bengaluru, a city for its innovation and technology, after a gap of 14 years.
All set to take place from December 19 to 21, 2025 at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC), Bengaluru, the 74th edition of the pharma mega event will be organised by the Indian Pharmaceutical Congress Association (IPCA) and hosted by the Association of Pharmaceutical Teachers of India (APTI).
There was also an announcement of roles by the officials. Here, Prof. Milind Umekar, president APTI has been unanimously nominated as President, IPCA. Dr. Deependra Singh, vice president (central zone), APTI & Dr. Raman Dang, national secretary, APTI will act as organising secretary, 74th IPC, 2025 and Dr. Venkat Ramana, vice president (south zone) as a Convenor,74th IPC, 2025.
With technology being the key driver, the concurrence is that AI is transforming the pharmaceutical industry across the entire value chain—from drug discovery and development to clinical trials, manufacturing, regulatory processes, and patient care. By harnessing big data, machine learning, and automation, pharma companies are speeding up R&D timelines, reducing costs, and bringing more precise, effective treatments to patients.
AI is transforming drug discovery and design. Specifically AI models analyze massive datasets to identify potential drug targets. It aids predictive analytics for trial success, patient stratification, and protocol design. It is enabling virtual trials and real-world data integration. AI-powered systems monitor production in real-time for quality assurance. In regulatory affairs it is automating documentation, submission processes, and compliance tracking.
Prof. Milind Janrao Umekar, president APTI and IPCA, said, “We are committed to making this congress a memorable and student-centric event. As part of this vision, the 74th IPC will feature four specialized expos: Pharma Machinery Expo, Pharma Education Expo, Start-Up Expo, and Medical Devices Expo — all aimed at showcasing innovation and creating industry-academia linkages.”
There is an urgent need to revamp pharmacy education to align with global standards, including skill-based learning, internships, and practical exposure. He also underlined that delegate registration is mandatory for all, and set a personal example by registering himself as a delegate for the Congress, he added.
To accommodate varying preferences, the IPC offers four categories of registration: Super Saver, Early Bird, Regular, and Spot Registration. The Super Saver Registration period runs from May 15 to July 14, 2025, providing discounted rates for early registrants. Registration includes access to scientific sessions, exhibitions, meals, and networking events. The abstract submission window will open soon, inviting researchers and students to share their work with a national audience. With its emphasis on innovation, skill development, and collaboration, the 74th IPC in Bengaluru is set to be a landmark event for the Indian pharmaceutical community, said Prof. Milind.
