The 10th edition of Pharmac South, the high-powered pharmaceutical and nutraceutical trade show, will open its doors today at the Chennai Trade Centre at Nandambakkam.
The two-day event, running through July 5th, is set to showcase innovative products, facilitate crucial industry discussions, and foster collaborations within the south Indian pharmaceutical and allied sectors. The event will commence at 10 am with an inaugural ceremony which will be attended by key figures in the pharmaceutical industry.
Dr. K.M. Srinivasan, Deputy Drug Controller of the CDSCO (South Zone), P U Karthikeyan, Director of the State Drug Control Administration, Dr George Patani, vice-president of IDMA, Dara B Patel, IDMA secretary general, and T Ravichandran, south regional vice-president, will be among the dignitaries present at the function.
Dr T Sathish, vice-chairman of Tamil Nadu IDMA, will deliver the welcome speech, and Hon' secretary S Sivanandan will propose the vote of thanks.
A highlight of the inaugural day is the distribution of IDMA's Brand Awards. This year marks the institution of these awards, with seven marketing companies will be recognized for their contributions.
Following the awards, Dr. Hari Natarajan, managing partner of Pronto Consult in Mumbai, will deliver an insightful talk on "The Emerging Pharma Brands in Tamil Nadu," offering valuable perspectives on the regional market. The afternoon session will focus on "Fund-raising Challenges and Opportunities of Pharma MSMEs," by Virendra Pande, MD of Spark Capital, a lifescience company from Mumbai.
On July 5th, the event will feature a robust conference program running parallel to the expo. The first session will delve into "Development of Quality Culture in Pharmaceutical Industry," led by Dr. Tom Puthiyaparampil, country head of Synergy Biopharma. This will be followed by a session on "Leading Transformations" by Rahul Guha, CEO of Thyrocare, indicating a strong emphasis on forward-thinking strategies.
In the afternoon, Dr Harish Jain Manawat, president of the Federation of Pharmaceutical Entrepreneurs (FOPE), will deliver a talk on, "Challenges of Regulatory Compliance of Pharma MSMEs". The conference will conclude with a valedictory function.
Dr S V Veeramani, past president of IDMA, currently in New York, highlighted the diversity of exhibits. He said IDMA anticipates a strong turnout, with 200 exhibitors and over 15,000 visitors from across the country to this year's Pharmac South.
J Jayaseelan, chairman of TN IDMA, currently in the US, communicated to Pharmabiz the immense opportunities for face-to-face interactions in the trade show. He said suppliers of raw materials, packaging materials, and providers of logistics services and solutions can directly engage with pharmaceutical manufacturers and allied industries from Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, and other South Indian states, fostering vital business connections.
Dr T Sathish, vice chairman of the TN IDMA, emphasized that the series of scientific seminars and conferences integrated into the exhibition has garnered significant interest, transforming the event into a valuable learning process for participants.
Pharmac South 2025 promises to be a pivotal event for the South Indian pharmaceutical industry, offering a platform for knowledge exchange, business development, and a glimpse into the future of the sector.
