Nasdaq-listed SS Innovations International, Inc. has announced that it has successfully completed two complex transcontinental robotic telesurgeries using SSI Mantra Surgical Robotic System, developed in India, at the Annual Conference of the Society of Robotic Surgery (SRS) in Strasbourg, France.

The procedures remotely connected surgical teams across nearly 10,000 kilometres, linking the Institut de recherche contre les cancers de l'appareil digestif (IRCAD) Headquarters in Strasbourg, France, to the Sri Aurobindo Institute of Medical Sciences (SAIMS) and the IRCAD National Centre in Indore, India, showcasing its ability to deliver high-precision surgical care across continents.

The first, a gastric bypass, was performed by Dr. Mohit Bhandari, president of IRCAD India and founder of Mohak Bariatrics and Robotics, Indore, in just over 44 minutes, with zero complications, underscoring the system’s unmatched stability, precision, and latency-free operation. The second procedure, a robotic atrial septal defect (ASD) closure, was performed by Dr. Sudhir Srivastava, founder, chairman, and CEO of SS Innovations International, Inc.

Dr Sudhir Srivastava, founder, chairman and CEO of SSI Innovations International said, "I would like to extend my gratitude to Vipul Patel, M.D., F.A.C.S., chairman of the Society of Robotic Surgery for an opportunity at the SRS 2025 Conference, Dr. Mohit Bhandari, the IRCAD India team, and the entire SS Innovations team whose dedication and innovation made the world’s first transcontinental robotic cardiac telesurgery possible."

This achievement further paves the way for redefining and democratizing global delivery of complex cardiac care, especially in regions with limited access to surgical expertise, he added.

To date, 35 tele surgeries - including 10 cardiac cases, and over 250 cardiac procedures have been successfully completed using the SSI Mantra system, it claimed. Given that cardiac procedures rank among the most complex surgical interventions, this achievement stands as a strong testament to SSI Mantra’s precision and performance in both telesurgery and advanced soft-tissue surgeries. Additionally, more than 5,000 multi-specialty surgeries have been successfully performed using the SSI Mantra system, with no device-related adverse events reported.

SS Innovations International claims to be the only surgical robotics company to have received regulatory approval from the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) for both tele-proctoring and telesurgery in India.
