In a swift response to a complaint regarding illegal medical practice, a team of health and drug control officials raided an unregistered clinic in Karnal in Haryana, leading to the arrest of an individual found to be practicing medicine without proper medical qualification. The operation resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of allopathic drugs and medical instruments from the clinic. The investigative team, comprising Dr. Vikas (MO), Dr. Govind, and Vikas Rathi, drug inspector in Karnal, conducted the raid on the "Maharishi Ved Vyas Clinic Care" located near the Maharishi Ved Vyas Mandir in VPO Bastali in Karnal. Upon entering the premises, the team encountered Vineet Kumar, who identified himself as the owner of the clinic. A subsequent search of the premises revealed medical instruments being actively used for medical procedures, alongside a substantial stock of allopathic drugs and used vials. When questioned by the authorities, Vineet Kumar was unable to produce any official documents, such as a valid medical degree or a registration certificate, to prove his qualifications as a medical practitioner. He also failed to provide the necessary sales and purchase records for the allopathic drugs found on the premises, which is a legal requirement, said Lalit Kumar Goel, state drug controller. The team proceeded to seize 79 different types of allopathic drugs, including both new and used items, along with the medical instruments. The SDC stated that legal action will be initiated against the accused under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act for these violations.
