 In a concerted effort to deepen bilateral relations in the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors, the Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council of India (Pharmexcil) has hosted a high-level delegation from the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands at its Hyderabad headquarters. The discussions centred around enhancing business cooperation, addressing industry challenges, and encouraging Dutch participation in the upcoming iPHEX 2025, a flagship international exhibition of pharmaceuticals and healthcare scheduled to be held from September 4 to 6, 2025, at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.
The delegation was led by Nico Schiettekatte, counsellor for health, welfare & sports at the Dutch Embassy in India. He was accompanied by Ravleen Pal, deputy head of Economic Section and Sector Lead for Lifesciences & Health, Harsh Indrarun, trade and investment commissioner, and Rambabu, head of the Hyderabad Netherlands Business Support Office.
Raja Bhanu, director general of Pharmexcil, formally welcomed the delegation and extended an official invitation to Dutch companies to participate in iPHEX 2025. He emphasized the importance of creating a platform for mutual growth and collaboration between Indian and Dutch stakeholders in healthcare and pharmaceuticals.
The key focus of the meeting was to encourage the participation of Dutch companies and procurement authorities in the B2B meetings at iPHEX. It was requested that officials and business leaders from Dutch hospital services, pharmaceutical wholesalers, healthcare providers, and insurance sectors be invited to foster strong commercial linkages.
In response, Nico Schiettekatte confirmed that invitations have already been extended to relevant Dutch stakeholders, ensuring strong representation and engagement from the Netherlands at iPHEX 2025. The potential setup of a Dutch Pavilion at the exhibition was also discussed, highlighting the commitment to showcasing Dutch innovation and expertise in healthcare and pharmaceutical technologies.
Joining the discussions, Murali, director, Pharmexcil, brought attention to shortages in active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and finished dosage formulations (FDFs). He emphasized the need for comprehensive industry matchmaking and sought data from the Dutch side to assess potential avenues for collaboration, particularly in bridging supply chain gaps.
This strategic engagement marks a step forward in India-Netherlands cooperation in the life sciences and healthcare domain, underlining shared priorities in public health, access to affordable medicines, and global pharmaceutical trade. With iPHEX 2025 emerging as a vital networking platform, the visit by Dutch officials reinforces the growing bilateral commitment to innovation, sustainability, and mutual economic growth in the sector.
Pharmexcil expressed optimism that the Netherlands’ involvement will enhance the diversity and impact of the upcoming exhibition, while facilitating high-quality international partnerships and investments.
