MAHE Centre for cGMP sets the tone for 3rd National cGMP Day on Oct 10 where revised Schedule M compliance takes centre stage

The Centre for cGMP at Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences (MCOPS), Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), will host the first ‘Manipal cGMP Forum: National conference on cGMP & Compliance’ coinciding with  the National current Good Manufacturing Practices Day October 10, 2025.  The event with the theme as "cGMP for sustainable quality will be held at the Dr TMA Pai auditorium, MAHE campus, Manipal.

National cGMP Day idea was conceived by Dr Girish Pai K, coordinator, Centre for cGMP, MAHE, Manipal and observed annually since 10th October, 2023 in association with IDMA and other major industry associations. Last year, Centre for cGMP organised first-ever international conference on cGMP ‘ICONcGMP 2024.

Sharing details of the day-long event, Dr Srinivas Mutalik, principal, MCOPS and Honorary Advisory Board Member of Centre for cGMP said, Bharath N Shah, national president, IDMA, will preside as the chief guest. Aditi Kare Panandikar, honorary general secretary, IDMA & MD, Indoco Remedies, will deliver the keynote address.  Harish Jain, national president, FOPE and Namit Joshi, chairman, Pharmexcil, are the special guests and special guest of honour, respectively.  Amit Raj Sinha, managing director, Sigachi Industries will be the guest of honour.  It will have industry leaders, special invitees, speakers, along with the top management of MAHE, Manipal too.

There is an industry-academia gap regarding understanding revised Schedule M guidelines in the academic curriculum and actual industry practice. Therefore, academia has a significant role in inculcating a strong GMP foundation in young minds. Manipal cGMP Forum is the right platform to deliberate on the significance of revised Schedule M guidelines and quality systems, said Dr Pai.

With envisage the participation of   pharmaceutical professionals from industry and academia to uphold the highest quality standards in pharmaceutical manufacturing. There will be two critical plenary sessions, poster presentations, and interactive industry-academic sessions featuring industry experts. Dinesh Kashikar, senior consultant, Zenshin Pharmatek LLP, will be one of the resource persons to provide an indepth understanding on the revised Schedule M guidelines.  Allen Dass, general manager, business development, Akums Drugs & Pharmaceuticals will deliberate on the impact of quality issues, he noted.

The highlights of the event include the National cGMP Day 2025 award. This year’s award goes to  Ananthakrishna Padiyar, chief of quality, Cipla, Mumbai, in recognition of his efforts to Quality and technical services rendered to the pharmaceutical industry, said Dr Pai. The occasion will see the release of Phase II of the digital museum on pharmaceutical quality, ‘Manipal cGMP Museum’, dedicated to Dr TMA Pai, Padmashree awardee and founder of MAHE, Manipal. This is a  CSR project sponsored Mehul Shah, promoter and managing director, Encube Ethicals,  Mumbai. The release of newsletter ‘cGMP CONNECT’ Vol 2, Issue 2 is planned to be released.  Best poster awards include a certificate and cash prize by Centre for cGMP, and ‘Special cGMP Gift’ sponsored by Akums Drugs and Pharmaceuticals.  Student Engagement Plan will create an interactive and impactful experience for the participants to foster awareness and learning on the indispensability of quality practices in pharma, said Dr Pai.
