Akums Drugs & Pharmaceuticals Ltd., India’s leading contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sharda University, Agra, to foster long-term collaboration in pharmaceutical research, technology transfer, and skill development. This strategic partnership aims to bridge the gap between academic research and industrial application, while preparing future talent for the evolving needs of the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry.
The MoU establishes a comprehensive framework for collaboration across research, innovation, training, and industry exposure. By combining Sharda University’s academic strengths with Akums’ robust manufacturing capabilities and R&D ecosystem, the partnership seeks to accelerate the development of future-ready pharmaceutical solutions and enhance employability among students.
A key focus of the collaboration will be joint research in trending and next-generation molecules and advanced drug delivery technologies. The partnership will also facilitate technology transfer, enabling promising academic research to be translated into commercially viable pharmaceutical products. Under the MoU, students from Sharda University will gain access to structured internship programs at Akums’ manufacturing facilities. These internships will provide hands-on exposure to real-world pharmaceutical manufacturing, quality systems, regulatory practices, and R&D processes. Additionally, industrial visits will be organized to help students understand large-scale pharmaceutical operations and industry best practices.
The collaboration will also include jointly organized seminars, and technical training programmes. These initiatives are designed to enhance students’ practical knowledge, industry readiness, and technical competencies, thereby improving their employability and career prospects in the pharmaceutical and allied sectors.
Akums and Sharda University will also collaborate on joint project development initiatives, focusing on translating academic innovations into market-ready solutions. These projects will encourage applied research, promote innovation-driven problem-solving, and contribute to addressing unmet needs in healthcare.
Arushi Jain, director of Akums Drugs & Pharmaceuticals, said: “We strongly believe that meaningful industry–academia partnerships are critical for driving innovation and building a future-ready pharmaceutical ecosystem. This collaboration with Sharda University reflects our commitment to nurturing talent, accelerating translational research, and enabling young minds to gain real-world industry exposure.”
Prof. (Dr.) Jayanthi Ranjan, Vice Chancellor, Sharda University Agra, said, “This MoU with Akums Drugs & Pharmaceuticals marks an important step toward strengthening experiential learning and applied research for our students and faculty. The collaboration will open new avenues for research, internships, and skill development, while ensuring that academic innovations find pathways to real-world application. We look forward to a mutually beneficial partnership that contributes to the growth of the pharmaceutical sector,” he said.
