Dr M N V Ravi Kumar, Distinguished University Research Professor, assistant vice president for Interdisciplinary Research and the founding director of the Center for Convergent Bioscience and Medicine at The University of Alabama, has been honoured with the Distinguished Scientist Award by the American Association of Indian Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAiPS) at its annual event in San Antonio, held alongside the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS) 2025 meeting.
A globally recognised leader in translational science, and nano medicine, Dr. Ravi Kumar has shaped the field through pioneering work on advanced drug delivery systems and non-competitive targeting strategies for complex diseases.
Since late November 2025, Dr Ravi Kumar has been in India as a Fulbright-Nehru Scholar, currently hosted at the National Institute of Nutrition (NIN), Hyderabad. Over the next four months, he will be collaborating with Dr G Bhanuprakash Reddy’s laboratory on the development of next-generation formulations of urolithin A and naringenin, natural compounds with typically low absorption. The project aims to significantly enhance its bioavailability and translational potential in human health and nutrition.
During his stay in India, Dr Ravi Kumar has planned an extensive series of lectures, workshops, academic interactions, and strategic industry engagements across the country. His itinerary includes visits to leading universities, research institutes, and pharmaceutical hubs, with the goal of strengthening India-US collaboration in drug delivery, convergent biosciences, and translational medicine. He will also be mentoring young scientists and engaging with innovators to catalyse high-impact research partnerships.
Academia, industry leaders, and research organisations interested in meeting Dr Ravi Kumar or exploring collaboration opportunities may reach him directly at his official University of Alabama email ID.
