The Department of Shalakya Tantra, under the aegis of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College of Ayurveda, Hospital & Research Centre, Kuthpady, Udupi, is organizing the Mathrushree Rathnamma Heggade Memorial One-Day National Seminar titled UNMEELANAM 2026 on Saturday, 14th February, 2026, at the SDM College of Ayurveda, Udupi.
The seminar, themed “Exploring Systemic Insights in Shalakya – Eye & ENT Practice,” aims to provide a comprehensive academic platform to explore integrative, evidence-based, and clinically relevant approaches in Ayurvedic Ophthalmology and Otorhinolaryngology (Shalakya Tantra). UNMEELANAM 2026 seeks to bridge classical ayurvedic wisdom with contemporary clinical and research frameworks, fostering meaningful dialogue among academicians, clinicians, researchers, and students across the country.
The programme will be graced by Dr Sreekanth P Namboothiri, chief medical officer & secretary, Sreedhareeyam Ayurvedic Eye Hospital & Research Centre, Kerala, as the chief guest, who will deliver the keynote address on “Practice-Based Evidence to Evidence-Based Practice: Bridging Shalakya Tantra into Global Clinical and Research Frameworks.”
The seminar will feature invited scientific papers presented by eminent resource persons including Vaidya M. Prasad, director, Sunetri Ayurvedashram and Research Centre, Thrissur; Dr. Udaya Shankar, Professor, Department of Shalakya Tantra, Alva’s Ayurveda Medical College, Moodubidri; and Dr. Saifudheen Gurukkal P., HOD & Associate Professor, KMCT Ayurveda Medical College, Kozhikode.
UNMEELANAM 2026 also provides an academic platform for paper presentations, e-posters, and reels, encouraging original research, clinical success stories, and innovative perspectives in Shalakya Tantra.
Last date for paper submission: January 31, 2026 .The seminar is open to UG and PG students, faculty members, practitioners, and Ph.D. scholars, with certificates, seminar material, and meals included.
