As India prepares for the Union Budget 2026, Wadi Surgicals Private Limited, India’s leading gloves manufacturer, has highlighted pain points and key expectations of the glove manufacturing sector to boost domestic medical manufacturing and propel the sector's Atmanirbhar Bharat momentum.
“The persistent pain points for the glove manufacturing sector in India are substandard imports eroding market share, lack of regulatory quality compliance, and the need for decisive interventions to fuel expansion, says K. Anindith Reddy, managing director, Wadi Surgicals Private Limited.
He further added that as Union Budget 2026 approaches, India's nitrile gloves sector, which primarily relies on imports, needs regulatory control of substandard imports and manufacturing incentives. The government should swiftly impose anti-dumping duties on imports from Malaysia and Thailand, alongside the implementation of the Quality Control Order (QCO) by the Department of Pharmaceuticals (DoP), making Bureau of Indian standards (BIS) BIS mandatory.
“We seek concessions on repo rates and extension of moratorium for those companies that started in Covid under the Atmanirbhar Bharat scheme to help us support expansions. We further recommend customs duty rationalisation and reversal of inverted duty structures, capital subsidies for machinery upgrades and R&D grants for newer technology and product developments,” Reddy stated.
Wadi Surgicals Private Limited is India’s largest and most advanced manufacturer of high-quality nitrile gloves, with a dedicated focus on safety, innovation, and excellence. Strategically located within Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) in Visakhapatnam—India’s premier medical device manufacturing cluster. The company’s facility operates at global benchmarks, adhering to the highest standards of hygiene, automation, and compliance.
The company has the distinction of being the first Indian manufacturer to introduce double-dipping glove production technology. This cutting-edge advancement enhances glove thickness, barrier protection, and overall durability, enabling it to serve critical use cases across healthcare, pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, and cleanroom environments.
