 Continuing its legacy of celebrating success stories from the pharmaceutical world, the 7th X-CIPLOG Reunion hosted in Worli, Mumbai recently brought together senior pharmaceutical professionals for an evening that blended professional excellence with cultural distinction. The annual event conferred Career Excellence Awards to leading pharma professionals and bestowed the prestigious X-CIPLOG Lifetime Achievement Awards on two eminent personalities from the performing arts.
The X-CIPLOG Awards, an initiative dedicated to recognizing and nurturing excellence within the pharmaceutical fraternity, honoured Padma Shri Vidushi Padmaja Phenany Joglekar, renowned Hindustani classical vocalist, for her exceptional contribution to music, and Vandana Gupte, celebrated film, theatre, and television personality, for her outstanding artistic excellence across decades.
A key highlight of the evening was the felicitation of Dr Vinay G Nayak, founder and chief mentor of the X-CIPLOG Awards, in recognition of his extraordinary contribution to the pharmaceutical industry. Dr. Nayak was honoured for his lifelong dedication to scientific excellence, leadership, and mentorship that has helped shape India’s global standing in pharmaceuticals.
Dr Vinay G Nayak is a veteran leader whose four-decade-long journey has profoundly shaped India’s emergence as the “Pharmacy to the World.” Renowned for his scientific acumen, unwavering integrity, and commitment to excellence, Dr Nayak has been a guiding force in mentoring and building high-performing technical teams across diverse pharmaceutical domains, particularly in Quality Control. He currently serves as chairman of the Technical Committee of the Indian Drug Manufacturers’ Association (IDMA) and is a founding member of the Society for Pharmaceutical Dissolution Science (SPDS).
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Nayak emphasized the deeper purpose of the X-CIPLOG platform. “X-CIPLOG is an association of 600 pharmaceutical professionals who are ex-employees of Cipla and have gone on to serve in senior leadership positions across the industry. This 7th reunion is about celebrating the success of every member. As a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative towards society, we have also honoured personalities whose contributions extend far beyond their respective professions. The presence of Chief Guests Vandana Gupte and Padmaja Phenany added immense value to the programme,” said Dr Nayak.
The X-CIPLOG Management Committee, comprising Dr. Vinay Nayak, Sandeep Mankame, Shirish Belapure, Davinder Singh, Geena Malhotra, Dr. Sachin Ghosalkar, Sanjeev Bhale, Reshma Lalwani, and Shankar Salgaonkar, played a pivotal role in organizing the event and upholding the association’s vision of excellence and camaraderie.

The Career Excellence Awards 2026 were bestowed upon distinguished professionals for their outstanding contributions: Chetan Parekh for Export Management, Sunil Rane and Vinayak Mhatre for Quality Control, Sunil Uttarwar, Jeevan Karnik and Hemant Lokhande for Manufacturing, Sanjay Chandratre for Environment, Health & Safety, Nikhil Chopra for Marketing Management, Rajiv Kulkarni and Anil Mahajan for Engineering & Projects, Ananda Gawde for Human Resources, Sandeep Raktate for Operations, Dr. Amit Antarkar and Dr. Ulhas Dhuppad for Research & Development.
Activity Awards 2026 were conferred on Satish Joshi, Pradeep Surve, and Dr. Sachin Ghosalkar for their sustained engagement and contribution to X-CIPLOG initiatives.
Adding a forward-looking dimension to the reunion, Sandeep Raktate, president, India & Ireland Operations, Amneal Pharmaceuticals, delivered an insightful presentation on Artificial Intelligence (AI) Technology for Future Pharma Operations, highlighting how digital transformation is set to redefine pharmaceutical manufacturing and operations.
