The 11th edition of Pharmac South, established as South India’s premier conference and exhibition for the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, and contract manufacturing sectors, is scheduled to take place on June 4 and 5, 2026, at the Chennai Trade Centre near Guindy.
This year's milestone event will be inaugurated by the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI), Dr. Rajeev Singh Raghuvanshi, marking a significant moment for the high-profile gathering organized by Orbit Exhibitions Pvt. Ltd in collaboration with Tamil Nadu branch of the Indian Drug Manufacturers’ Association (TN IDMA). Set in Hall No. 3, the exhibition is expected to attract over 200 exhibitors and more than 10,000 B2B visitors, reinforcing its status as a massive industry hub for the country.
Sharing information with Pharmabiz, the chairman of the TN IDMA, J Jayaseelan said the event will officially commence at 10 AM on June 4 with the grand inauguration ceremony. He said the presence of the DCGI underscores the event's importance in the national regulatory landscape. The inaugural session will be immediately followed by the prestigious IDMA-Pronto Brand Awards, a ceremony dedicated to recognizing excellence and marketing innovation within the pharmaceutical sector.
A major highlight of the opening day is a keynote address by the world-renowned motivational speaker and author, Shiv Khera. Addressing an audience of industry stalwarts and emerging entrepreneurs, Khera will speak on the timely topic, ‘Mastering Success in This Fast-Changing World’. The session aims to give leaders the mental tools and expert advice they need to handle the fast-changing world of healthcare. It is intended to inspire a spirit of toughness and creative thinking throughout the rest of the event.
The second day, June 5, will shift focus toward technical excellence and regulatory strategy. The programme features a series of fireside chats and technical sessions led by at least ten eminent industry speakers. Critical discussions will delve into pharma export opportunities, regulatory updates regarding the revised Schedule M, and the latest FSSAI compliance requirements. Additionally, dedicated sessions will explore finance and business growth strategies specifically tailored for pharmaceutical marketing, providing attendees with a comprehensive toolkit for commercial expansion.
Varsha Surve, head of exhibitions at Orbit Exhibitors, said that Pharmac South 2026 is evolving into a vital trade platform that unites manufacturers, suppliers, and solution providers. With a strategic focus on automation, packaging technologies, and innovation, the expo continues to see a steadily expanding exhibitor base. Supported by major partners including Pharmexcil, FOPE, and the Indian Pharmaceutical Association, the event aims to facilitate the high-level discussions and networking necessary to shape the future of the Indian pharmaceutical industry.
Regarding exhibitor participation at the expo, Varsha stated that stall bookings have already surpassed the 100 mark, with expectations to reach 200. However, she raised concerns that the ongoing conflict in West Asia might discourage certain companies from participating.
The pharmaceutical trade show’s history in Chennai dates back to 2014, when the inaugural Pharmac South was established through a partnership between Orbit Exhibitions and the TN IDMA to highlight South India’s growing status as a hub for formulations and contract manufacturing. Recent editions, including the record-breaking 2024 and 2025 shows, have seen attendance swell to 15,000 visitors, introducing technical conferences on quality culture and regulatory compliance while maintaining a strong focus on connecting regional producers with global market opportunities.
The successful past editions, marked by high-level government support and a focus on strategic networking, have firmly established the event as a premier B2B platform driving growth across the entire pharmaceutical value chain in South India.
