The Department of Neurosurgery, National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), Bengaluru, is organizing one day workshop on Atmanirbhar Bharat in NeuroScience IPR” 2026 on June 6, 2026, focusing on Innovation, Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), indigenous medical technology development in NeuroSciences. The event will be held in the NIMHANS campus at the Platinum Jubilee Auditorium, POGW Building. As part of this workshop, NIMHANS will launch new initiative “EndoVascular Research” Lab & Unveiling of PARICHAY thrombectomy device prototype for acute stroke intervention during inaugural programme to be held in the morning 9 am at Platinum Jubilee Auditorium, POGW Building, NIMHANS, Bengaluru on 6th June 2026. The EndoVascular Research laboratory has been initiated with funding support from the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB/ANRF), Government of India. The laboratory will be officially launched by Prof. Prabha S Chandra, director, NIMHANS, along with Prof. B.N. Gangadhar, former director, NIMHANS. Another major highlight of the inaugural programme will be the unveiling of the PARICHAY Thrombectomy Device prototype for the treatment of stroke. This prototype represents a significant milestone in India’s efforts toward self-reliant Neuro Endovascular innovation and affordable stroke care technologies for low- and middle-income countries. The workshop will bring together eminent academicians, clinicians, scientists, innovators, and industry experts from across the country to discuss innovation ecosystems, Intellectual Property development, translational neuroscience research, and indigenous biomedical device advancement. Dr K N Subramanya, Principal, RV College, will deliver the keynote address during the inaugural Program. Distinguished Resource persons include Prof. S C Parija, former director of JIPMER & president Health and Intellectual Property Rights Academy (HIPRA), and Balram from CEO, SCTIMST-TIMed Biomedical Technology Wing Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute of Medical Sciences and Technology Trivandrum and Dr M Senthil, deputy director, SBV Innovation Eco System Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University), Pondicherry, Honorary Secretary HIPRA. The event aims to promote interdisciplinary collaboration and strengthen the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat through indigenous healthcare technology innovation, academia-industry collaboration, and translational biomedical research.
