In a decisive move to safeguard public health, the Drugs Control Administration (DCA) of Telangana executed a strategic raid on an illegal clinic run by a quack in the Khammam District.
Operating on precise, credible intelligence, the enforcement officials targeted the unauthorized establishment to disrupt the illicit possession and distribution of regulated pharmaceutical products.
The raid took place at a residential setup identified as House Number 1-105/2, located in Burda Raghavapuram Village within the Khammam District. The premises belonged to Shaik Ameer, an unqualified practitioner who had been running a full-scale clinical practice completely devoid of medical degrees or official licensing.
During the intensive search of the clinic, DCA inspectors detected and confiscated 11 distinct varieties of medicines that were illegally stocked for direct sale to unsuspecting patients. The total market value of the seized medical supply is estimated to be approximately Rs. 10,000, according to official sources within the department.
Among the seized items, regulators expressed grave concern over the presence of several higher-generation antibiotics. Senior officials said that the unmonitored and indiscriminate distribution of antibiotics by unqualified individuals poses severe risks to public health, specifically accelerating the global threat of 'Antimicrobial Resistance' (AMR).
The successful operation was jointly executed by K. Devender Reddy, the Drugs Inspector for Khammam Rural, and CH. Anil Kumar, the Drugs Inspector for Khammam Urban. The field team conducted the enforcement actions under the direct supervision of M. Aravind Kumar, the Assistant Director of Drugs in Khammam, who confirmed that medical samples have been lifted for detailed laboratory analysis.
In the wake of this operation, the DCA issued a stern state-wide advisory targeting pharmaceutical wholesalers and distributors. The government body clarified that any licensed dealer found supplying medicines to quacks, unlicensed shops, or unqualified individuals will face severe penal action under the strict provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940.
Besides, the department reminded all traders that they bear the legal responsibility to verify the credentials and license validity of any recipient business before fulfilling stock orders. To bolster public participation, the DCA urged common public to actively report suspicious drug manufacturing, illegal stockpiling, or narcotic distribution via their official toll-free complaint hotline.
