The Life Sciences Sector Skill Development Council (LSSSDC), operating under the aegis of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India, has announced that it will host 'LSSSDC Skillverse 2026' on August 21, in Hyderabad.
The premier national skill summit for the life sciences sector will take place at Hotel Le Méridien, bringing together key ecosystem stakeholders to chart a comprehensive roadmap for workforce development.
According to Amarendra Babu, deputy director of LSSSDC (South India), the high-level event aims to convene CXOs, managing directors, CEOs, HR leaders, manufacturing heads, R&D chiefs, CSR heads, policymakers, academics, and skill development experts on a single platform. Participants will deliberate on strategies to build a future-ready, globally competitive workforce capable of supporting the rapid expansion of India’s life sciences domain.
Talking to Pharmabiz over telephone, Amarendra said, as the nation's life sciences industry expands across pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical devices, clinical research, and allied healthcare, bridging the talent gap has become a vital priority. Skillverse 2026 is conceptualized as a strategic platform designed to align industry expectations with workforce capabilities while fostering collaborative solutions for sustainable skilling.
The day-long agenda features keynote addresses from government leaders, four specialized panel discussions, and an audio-visual presentation outlining the current life sciences skill landscape. Senior officials from the ministry of skill development and entrepreneurship, the Department of Pharmaceuticals, the Department of Biotechnology, and regulatory bodies are scheduled to present key addresses during the morning sessions.
The summit’s core discussions will focus on several critical themes, including identifying immediate skill gaps, strengthening Skill Development Centres (SDCs) through industry-led 'NeeV' initiatives, and preparing talent for Industry 5.0 technologies such as AI and automation. Additionally, the event will examine the growing role of Global Capability Centres (GCCs) in India and deliberate on leveraging government schemes like PMKVY, NAPS, and PM-SETU to accelerate workforce transformation.
Highlighting the council's broader mission, the deputy director of the Council emphasized its ongoing commitment to developing skilled manpower through industry-aligned skilling, upskilling, certification, and apprenticeship programs. By deepening collaboration between industry, academia, training partners, and government bodies, the organization aims to build a talent pipeline capable of driving innovation across the entire value chain, he said.
The event will conclude with a synthesizing session on key recommendations and action points, setting the stage for future implementation across regional and national training centres.
