Considering the case reports of cured or life-extended patients of cancer diseases submitted by a group of Ayurveda doctors in Kerala, the Ayush department in the state plans to hold an experimental study on the claims of the Ayurveda physicians that the age old treatment system can cure different types of cancer diseases.
The department of Ayush has called a combined meeting of allopathy and Ayush doctors engaged in cancer treatment on the 18th of this month in the state capital, in which the associations of Ayurveda doctors are also invited. A group of Ayurveda physicians, who holds treatments for cancer diseases and representing various districts in Kerala have formulated a common protocol for treating the fatal disease and submitted it to the government last month.
According to sources, the researchers and the cancer specialists in Ayurveda have approached the Kerala Oncology Society with a request to do combined diagnosis and treatments in the government hospitals of Ayush and in other cancer treatment centres. Ayurveda practitioners who have specialized in cancer treatments and engaged in continuous researches in other states to address this disease will associate with the initiatives being taken in Kerala.
It is learnt that the government is planning to start a special wing of Ayurvedic Oncology Speciality in the ISM Hospital in Kottayam after the combined meeting to be held on August 18. It is also learnt that a joint consultation method will be introduced in all the district Ayurveda hospitals for cancer treatments.
While interacting with Pharmabiz, a medical practitioner of Ayurveda who has been invited to the meeting, said ayurvedic management of cancer care can be taken as supportive to modern therapy and as an independent therapy as well. Reducing the prevalence, prevention of metastasis, minimize complications of various conventional therapies, cost effective management etc. are the real challenges faced by modern sector. Ayurveda has solutions to all these problems, he claimed.
