Ferty9 Fertility Centre has announced the strategic appointment of world-renowned reproductive medicine expert, Prof. Roy Homburg, as its clinical research advisor.

This move is aimed at significantly strengthening India-focused fertility research and evidence-based clinical practices to address the massive national challenge of infertility, which currently affects more than 30 million couples in the country.

The urgency for indigenous research is underscored by the fact that India’s vast ethnic and genetic diversity presents unique reproductive health challenges, demanding localized solutions rather than relying solely on treatment protocols modelled on Western populations. A key finding highlighted by Ferty9’s medical director, Dr. Jyothi, is that ovarian aging among Indian women occurs 6.3 years earlier than in Caucasian women, emphasizing the critical need for India-specific data and personalized treatment approaches.

Prof. Homburg’s appointment comes on the heels of the successful Fertygyaan 2025 international conference, which convened hundreds of top global and Indian fertility specialists. This collaboration is set to bridge global scientific expertise with India’s unique landscape, with Prof. Homburg mentoring the development of large-scale, India-specific IVF studies to generate vital insights for informing national best practices.

Speaking on his new role, Prof. Homburg expressed his enthusiasm, noting his inspiration by Ferty9’s scientific curiosity and commitment. He acknowledged the tremendous opportunity to deepen our understanding and develop more effective treatments that bring hope to millions of affected couples in India. Prof. Homburg affirmed his belief that India has the infrastructure, expertise, and determination to conduct world-class fertility research.
Dr. Jyothi stressed the societal implications of this challenge, stating that addressing fertility issues is a national need. She warned that a failure to act could lead to an inevitable decline in the youth population, which defines India's demographic strength. By building a culture of rigorous, research-driven care under Prof. Homburg’s mentorship, Ferty9 aims to understand the Indian woman’s body better and enhance patient outcomes nationwide.

Vinesh Gadhia, executive director & CEO, reiterated Ferty9's commitment to filling the current research gap. He pointed out that despite rapidly growing demand for fertility services, most protocols remain modelled on western data due to limited indigenous studies. Ferty9 intends to directly address this by using the collaboration to champion a new era of evidence-based fertility care and build a research-driven ecosystem across India.

Adding to the clinical confidence, Javier Herrero Zapata, Embryology Consultant and Advisor, highlighted the center's commitment to laboratory excellence. He noted that Ferty9's precision-driven approach, backed by decades of innovation in lab science, where embryos are meticulously protected and nurtured, continues to deliver consistently high success rates and renewed hope for countless Indian couples on their journey to parenthood.
