The International Pharmaceutical Excipients’ Council of India (IPEC India) will be holding its flagship Annual Conference 2026 on July 23.

The conference will bring together leading professionals from across the pharmaceutical, excipient, regulatory, and academic sectors. It will also feature distinguished international speakers from the IPEC Federation and EXCiPACT sharing global perspectives, regulatory insights, and the latest advances in excipient science. This conference provides a vital platform to explore that transformation and to strengthen India’s role in the global excipients landscape.

The theme “Excipients Redefined: From Inactive Ingredients to Therapeutic Enablers” reflects a pivotal shift in pharmaceutical science. Excipients are no longer passive carriers — they are active contributors to drug stability, bioavailability, patient compliance, and the success of advanced therapies including biologics.

“Maintaining excipient quality through robust GMP compliance, supplier qualification, and risk-based quality management is essential for regulatory alignment, product quality, and continuous improvement across the pharmaceutical industry” says Dr Ajit Singh, chairman, IPEC India.

Conference sessions at a glance:

  • Co-processed excipients: Multi-functional innovation driving flow, compressibility & process efficiency
  • Performance-based excipient selection beyond pharmacopoeia: Science-driven decision making
  • Breaking the solubility barrier: Deep dive into cyclodextrins & lipid-based systems for BCS class II & IV drugs
  • Safety & allergenicity of excipients – Revisiting the ‘Inactive’ ingredient paradigm
  • CXO roundtable: Strategic outlook on the conference theme
  • Cost optimisation through excipient selection: Balancing performance, compliance & manufacturing efficiency
  • Novel excipients: Smart and sustainable
  • From purity to impurity profiling: The evolving science of excipient quality
  • Criticality & control: A risk-based approach to excipient selection for parenteral dosage forms
  • Regulatory evolution & risk management: QbD, ICH frameworks & nitrosamine considerations
  • AI-driven formulation development: From trial and error to predictive modelling
  • Taste masking & patient-centric formulation: Improving compliance in paediatric & geriatric populations
The conference is designed for professionals across the pharmaceutical ecosystem — excipient manufacturers and suppliers, formulation scientists, R&D and quality professionals. The programme will be enriched by the presence of international guest faculty from the IPEC Federation and EXCIPAT, bringing a truly global dimension to the discussions.

Professionals attending the conference will be able to gain valuable insights into the evolving role of excipients as key drivers of drug performance and innovation, while staying updated on the latest regulatory expectations and market trends.

The conference offers a platform to learn from global experts, discover advanced formulation solutions, and exchange ideas with industry peers. Enhance your technical knowledge, strengthen professional networks, and uncover new opportunities to drive efficiency, quality, and competitive advantage in your organization.

Established in 2014, IPEC India is a not-for-profit industry association affiliated to the global IPEC Federation - which includes regional IPEC associations from the United States, Europe, Japan, China, and India. The Federation works towards promoting the safe and effective use of pharmaceutical excipients and improving patient safety through harmonised standards and best industry practices

IPEC India promotes proper excipient usage and supports the growth of the excipient industry in India by enhancing quality and manufacturing standards. It brings together industry, academia, and regulatory stakeholders, engages with authorities such as CDSCO and IPC, and collaborates nationally and internationally on excipient-related issues.

The association actively promotes awareness and adoption of global IPEC guidelines covering GMP, Good Distribution Practices (GDP), quality agreements, validation, stability, and supply chain security, while supporting industry through position papers and technical guidance on emerging topics such as nitrosamine risks and third-party certification programmes.

Through seminars, webinars, conferences and newsletter. IPEC India serves as a neutral and collaborative platform dedicated to strengthening excipient quality, regulatory harmonisation, and public confidence in pharmaceutical products.
